My thoughts of custom formats/banlists

Yeah definitely!

Why isn’t rare candy in the format just curious

I wanted evolution to be very powerful in my format, especially Stage 2’s. My expectations is that this format’s lack of ex and big basics should promote each player to rely on evolution cards to a bigger benifit than usual. Because of that, I think Stage 2’s should be an investment that Rare Candy would undermine. This also forces all decks to consider the middle-stage of each 3-stage evolution line. A good example is Gengar and Gastly being two of their best cards ever printed, but Haunter is a weaker variation that would make Gengar a bit riskier to use. I think this format will also be much slower than more modern formats (it also has only single-prize Pokemon), so I think building up to Stage 2’s is much more viable, in general. What do you think of this approach?

Here’s another potential deck idea! Holdus Pinkus!

Wigglytuff is able to stop the opponent from attacking with Hocus Pinkus. The attack costs a lot, so the deck is a little slower, but other cards in this deck are to help slow down the opponent, like Crushing Hammer. In the expected case that Wigglytuff cannot knock out the opponent’s Pokemon, Alolan Dugtrio can be used to stop the opponent from retreating. Kantonian Dugtrio is used in the case that the opponent can retreat, putting damage counters onto the opponent’s Pokemon, which could punish or even prevent the opponent from switching. Using Boss’s Orders at the right time could also successfully lock the opponent for several turns.

Another simple deck…

Politoed and Poliwrath were released together, so they are supposed to work together: Politoed makes Poliwrath’s attacks cheaper. To get through the deck and to help find the right evolution cards, Pidgeot’s Quick Search can be used to find any card from the deck. This deck also has a lot of “one of’s” Trainers, so this deck offers a lot of utility in different situations. In the event of a Muk turning off Pokemon Powers, Poliwrath could slap it on the opponent’s bench.

Here are some others!

Are there any other trainers that you think could be fun to include?

Also sometimes my decks get randomly deleted so can you fix that?

I’m super sorry about that! How frequently does it happen? I noticed that I cannot save decks on my phone, but I have no problem with my PC. :disappointed_relieved:

You can also save the decks locally with the export button!

Hmmmm, that’s the right idea!

Celio’s Network/Poke Kid are Supporter cards that search your deck for any Pokemon, making them better, but with Nest Ball in this format, I think they would mostly be used for evolutions.

There is also Evolution Incense, which searches for an Evolution, but is an Item. Perhaps this is way too strong, though?

The problem happens quite a bit also thanks for letting me know I can save decks locally

I added a few cards (Poke Kid, Super Effective Sunglasses, and Pokedex) and swapped out a few inconsequential Pokemon (Skiploom, Butterfree, Magneton, Chansey). The Umbreon Prize deck will get a small upgrade from the Pokedex.

I also made an Eeveelutions deck! I think I still need to update the website with card metadata/text data and better graphs, but I will add deck descriptions for all of the example decks. So, I will go without giving this one a description at the moment.

I am almost done with making a deck that uses or can use each card in the format. :sunglasses:

Hey I think you replace beedrill with band attack with flutter wings beedrill

That is a cool card! I haven’t been able to think of an effective deck for the current Beedrill, so swapping it out could work.

My only issue is that the effect is too similar to Sunflora, so I think it might be good to swap Sunflora out, too.

What do you think?

Let me look at other beedrill and sunflora cards brb

Venom spray beedrill might be the best beedrill considering the formats it comes from e-card and Neo-e-card which both have no straight from basic to stage 2 cards

The beedrill from vivid voltage can also be good with its sharp sting attack doing 120 damage for 1 grass and 1 colourless which is very strong it’s ability is also helpful though situational and the chilling reign beedrill can also be good with 1 of its attack auto knocking out a Pokemon with special energy attached (though special energy isn’t very common) and it’s other attack is strong as well

Devolution Spray and Super Scoop-Up would make this way too broken, I think.

Actually, anything after XY Evolutions just seems way too powerful. :disappointed_relieved: I think hitting something closer to 120 should cost maybe 3 Energy. For 1 Energy, the current Beedrill could do 120, but only if you somehow get all 4 Beedrill out, which should balance it out. I think it can become more viable over time combined with Sunflora and Revitalixer, actually! That deck would just need some sort of draw power.

Devolution spray would not make it broken in my opinion you gotta remember the devolution spray (or some sort of it) exists in Neo-e-card and it’s not broken there but if it is to strong you can just remove Devi spray (also gotta remember beedrill is a stage 2 making it difficult to get into play in the first place)

Also I think rare candy should be added or else the format might just become powerful big HP basics and stage one’s
