Agreed, it would be wonderful to have those available. The Japanese had those cards available to them and there are some wonderful cards in there.

I mean, yeah it would be cool. But wont the game suffer from some of those cards?

I don’t think so. Argentinian players included those cards in their old school tournaments, IMO it changes format a little bit, but is fun. It will be interesting having it in this site.

The Premium File Charizard actually ought to be pretty good, especially with Blaine.

I’d love to see all of the Japanese promos being translated into English. I’ve always wanted to play Dark Venusaur card since I’ve played it in GBC fan translation of PTCG 2!

Even if cards are not implemented fully into the career/quickplay game modes, niche promotional cards are always great to add to the database as a way of preserving some more of the history that often gets lost through time and translation (japanese translation errors & card ruling mistakes come to mind).

Dunno if its of much help, but if there is interest to implement them in the game, I could put together the fan translation onto a card, to have an image to put in the game

yeaaaaah! put these in!
As far as the format stuff goes, i’d be fine with them in the current formats, or at least allow them in unlimited.

Hello, I am working on this. When I have made enough cards I will post them here on the forum or on discord. I leave you some samples here, enjoy…

And some Game Boy…

Those English fakes look great!

I would be interested to implement them (but can’t promise any ETA). As a prerequisite of this process, the cards and their metadata need to be added into TCG ONE Card DB in YAML format.

Which format(s) should they belong to?

It depends, I guess there should just be available in Base-Neo because they were released in a certain order in Japan, but that doesn’t correlate with English legality (as promo vending cards were released late in the Blackstar promos, so they are legal in rocket-on and neo-on).

Maybe besides base neo, there could be a Gen 1 JP block with Base-Gym (or Base-Rocket) + Vending + Intro pack + Gen 1 unnumbered promos.

Hi all, just wanted to see if there was any update on the possible implementation of these cards? @admin @FGR89

I’m not sure if FGR89 has been online since I joined a few months ago, and Admin seems to be focused on updating the site entry right now (we just got a server update notification today, but we haven’t heard of Admin adding or debugging any cards in a few months), so I’m not sure if either of them will implement these cards any time soon. I could start creating translated card images for these cards in a couple of weeks, but I have no expertise in coding and would be unable to implement the cards unless someone is able to teach me how to copy and paste large chunks of code from simple cards (like Ponyta Base Set) to create cards like Squirtle Intro Pack without actually learning the coding language. (I’m guessing it’s nowhere near that simple, or everyone could do it.)

Given the extensive nature of this list, what would be your ten cards of choice if Admin offered you one weekend to implement the most relevant cards on this list?

Here is just one more translated card to add. I will complete all of the other cards as soon as I can. Hopefully at some point these cards will get implented.

I am not crazy about adding this card to TCGONE. Jason Klaczynski sums up how ground-breaking this card would have been in our western formats.

https://jklaczpokemon.com/unreleased-japanese-cards/#fan-club-porygon

While most of the cards from Japan (excluding the Vending Gastly and Gengar) don’t break any of their home formats, Fan Club Porygon completely warps the Base-Neo format, completely redefining what is and isn’t competitive for all players.

Not only does this card not serve the same restorative purpose as Hall of Fame, it would also be unavoidable, barring the creation of entirely new Quickplay formats. By nullifying several historic archetypes that have at last been freed from a mistranslated Slowking, this card upsets the established format rather than diversifying it or rounding out its weaker card pool.

Very nice job here, love some of these cards since I played TCG2 on the GBC, especially hungry Snorlax and the Moon Stone from the Vending Machine series 1, eager to play them here! thx alot

Hi, sorry for the late reply. I do remember seeing Jason Klaczynski write about this card and how it would have really changed the game. I guess you are right, its probably not the best idea to add this card to the game, but I think it would be fun if we played Suginami HoFF with this card on tcgone. Anyway, when I get the chance, I will add all of the other cards. None of the pther cards really concern me if added to base-neo (Other than this card and maybe GR mewtwo)
