WotC Erratas, Complete List

Ohhhh, I see now what you’re saying. I was so focused on the Japanese text that I didn’t read the English text closely enough, lol. Yeah, you’re right!

[Edit, ignore this, this is using the text of Sceptile instead of Meganium]

Meganium’s Wild Growth is translated without the mention of Basic Energy card, however, the Japanese text mentions it:

[草]の基本 エネルギーカード

You can see the difference when you look at Dark Charizard’s Continuous Fireball, who in this case don’t have the mention of Basic Energy card in its Japanese text:

「炎」エネルギーカード

It is important, because we have this ruling that specify that Special Energy can work for Dark Charizard:
https://compendium.pokegym.net/ruling/687/

Q: If I have two Rainbow energy attached to a Dark Charizard and I flip two heads, can I discard the Rainbow Energy or do I have to have Fire Energy cards?
A: You could discard the Rainbow Energy as they do count as all basic energy types.
Source: WotC Chat (2000-06-22)

This Compendium ruling is also consistent with Japanese rulings, such as this one for Magcargo’s Lava Flow:

(Approximate translation)

Q: With Magcargo’s attack Lava Flow, is it possible to discard a Rainbow Energy attached to Magcargo?
A: Yes, it is possible.
Since Rainbow Energy counts as one unit of every type of Energy as long as it is attached to a Pokémon, it can be discarded.

May I ask where you got that Meganium text from? It’s not what’s on the card, nor is it what’s in the Neo 1 Handy Guide. There’s no mention of Basic Energy there. Furthermore, the aforementioned guide has a page that explains exactly how Meganium works with Rainbow Energy.

oh, crap, that’s my fault, I used the page of Sceptile, I got lured because they have the same Ability name, same type and same HP
Thanks for the correction!

Sabrina’s esp can only be used to reroll flips of sabrina’s pokemon (the english text omits this clause and there was a ruling that said you could reflip if you attached it to a ditto copying a sabrina’s pokemon then changed it to another pokemon)

The pokemon power of blaine’s ninetales triggers when you attach a fire energy from anywhere

Japanese players have done some creative things with Blaine’s Ninetales in Hall of Fame that involve healing it repeatedly. Check this out: [旧裏]KGループ|タコトプス

You use Alakazam to move damage onto Blaine’s Ninetales, then use Venusaur to move Rainbow Energy onto and off of that Ninetales, healing 10 damage each time. Since you can do this as many times as you like per turn, it means you can heal as much damage as you want. Pretty cool!

Here’s an interesting one I just stumbled across. According to the PCL Q&A in issue 10 of the official Pokémon Card Trainers magazine, when Electrode (Base Set 21/102) knocks itself out using its Buzzap Pokémon Power, before it gets attached to a Pokémon as an Energy card, it is technically supposed to pass through the Discard Pile. When and why does this matter? When Parasect (Neo Revelation 35/64) is in play. Parasect’s Allergic Pollen Pokémon Power prevents any cards in anyone’s discard pile from being affected by attacks or Pokémon Powers. The official word from PCL is that this includes Electrode, meaning that if you knock it out with Buzzap while Allergic Pollen is live, the Electrode gets discarded and stays there.

(Is this how it already works on TCG ONE? I don’t actually know.)

@JasonKlaczynski Found some more “by damage from an attack” errata for your website to list along with focus band and giovanni’s machamp:

Phanpy (N1 43)’s Endure

Celebi (N3 3)’s Time Travel.

Also, should we list Light Dragonite as errata’ed? The correct ruling isn’t inconsistent with the English text, but it wasn’t played correctly at the time, and the English text does imply incorrect play. It definitely is a consideration.

Also, based on the discussions above, Base Set Gastly’s Destiny Bond should be included since it Knocks Out the opponent’s Active Pokemon, not necessarily the Pokemon that Knocked it Out. (relevant for Dark Golbat, Dark Crobat, and Elekid, to name a few). As should Jungle Scyther’s Swords Dance making Slash do 60, as opposed to double damage (relevant for Ditto + Gust of Wind)

Oh, and we should remove the phrase “from your hand” from Blaine’s Ninetales’s Healing Fire. (There’s an argument that we should also explicitly specify moving a fire energy also triggers it, but that could be considered a clarification, not needing errata, as that is somewhat analogous to the situation Aerodactyl not blocking evolution from deck or attacks)
