VS series cards and Format

Could you please implement the VS series cards and format (half deck)?
In Japan, when playing the e-series, the WEB and VS series are also included in the card pool. Based on that, please consider implementing the WEB-e series format. thank you.

That would definitively add a little bit of spice to the e-series cards. That being said In japan they didn’t have rotation just yet, so it would be something like base-neo + e- + vs with a few erratas they issued to make cards into supporters and to split cards into poke-power and poke-body.

That being said, with a custom banlist it could be a very interesting unexplored format. But implementing all those cards would be a massive undertaking.

Regarding VS:
When I was in the process of adding PokéPark Forest, axpendix was insistent that card images should be in English. If he hasn’t changed his mind, that step would be the biggest obstacle to getting VS implemented. I don’t know of any card maker that has the e-card template. We could use the jury-rig method for Standard cards before development on those stopped, which was to take the Japanese version of the card and overlay English text on it, but that’s still a lot of work.

I don’t know all the effects on VS cards, but from what I gather, they are not too complex and have been seen on prior cards. In that case, coding the cards should not be difficult, merely tedious, as there are about a hundred of them.

Regarding half deck:
Yes, I also think this should be made, and I’ll even go one step further to say that this should be an option for any format, not just e-Card. Half deck changes the value of certain cards: for example, Rocket’s Admin becomes much stronger at disruption since half deck starts at 3 Prizes. Professor Oak’s Research is mediocre in 60-card, but becomes better in half deck as it becomes positive on card advantage sooner. (In 60-card, an early Admin before anyone has taken a Prize will put you to 6, and playing Oak would be -1, but in half deck Admin would put you to 3, and Oak would be +2.) Electrode ex is much riskier, as losing even a single Pokémon renders you unable to use Extra Energy Bomb without losing the game immediately. Master Ball digs through a larger portion of your deck compared to 60-card.

Custom deck sizes/starting Prizes in general would be a good addition. Having the option to start with 1 Prize allows Sudden Death to be played. The Japanese EX GLC format uses 60-card decks and 4 starting Prizes. The last use case I can think of is drafting; Jason’s cube recommends 40-card decks and 4 starting Prizes.

I’m down to make the cards in english, but it will definitively take a while, I’m trying to priorize doing the remaining cards that came out in english that need fixing, then I can jump onto this.

Japan actually did implement a rotation for some events. From pokemon card trainer magazine volume 14 page 25

The player going first cannot draw on their first turn

In volume 16 page 25
Qualifying stayed the same just with new sets.

Junior/Senior format no longer allows any old back cards (which removes hall of fame since no legal cards are on it)

Also no mention of not drawing on the first turn.

Implementing an age division specific format doesn’t currently have any precedence but personally I would like to see the vs and web sets (as well as japan exclusive promos) added to e-card format if it ever gets added back to tcgone.
