I’d like to see the 2017 Primal Clash-Guardians Rising format added to TCGOne. This format is similar to 2017 Worlds since it is only one set different, but the games in these formats play differently enough to where a sizeable community formed around PRC-GRI.
PRC-GRI is arguably more popular than 2017 Worlds. Currently, formats for PRC-GRI are hosted using 2017 Worlds (with a modified card pool), but it is difficult to play on ladder. I would like to see the format added to TCGOne Quickplay.
I second this opinion, 2017 NAIC is one of my favorite formats in large part to one of the most identifiable decks from the era, Greninja BREAK, which is unique to guardians rising. Please add this format so i can play one of my favorite decks of all time!
I do think it’s important for TCGONE to add more of the mid-season formats, partly because it encourages more players to actually create lists for them, partly because the “host a game for a different format containing all the cards and put the intended format name in the description” system is tedious and sometimes leads to players joining with decks for the wrong format, and partly because, even if you use that system, you can’t host multiple game queues for the same format, meaning I can’t queue games for both PRC-GRI and for 2017 Worlds.
I also think TCGONE shouldn’t worry at all about adding “too many” formats. Even ten retro formats would be inherently overwhelming for a new player, and those new players usually just ask the seasoned players what the most popular options are or just start playing one of the most modern formats on the website (If they don’t already have some knowledge of retro Pokémon when they create their account, which many of them do).
I would also like to nominate Expanded Unrestricted (BLW-XY) and Expanded Unrestricted (BLW-CEC) as new formats given how many XY- and Sun and Moon-era Expanded format events have been hosted recently on TCGONE. These formats would allow players to actually play retro expanded formats with era-accurate rules, and would also allow people to queue games for Expanded formats from multiple eras at once.
