Current goals:
- Qualify for 2025 worlds
- Get a comprehensive understanding of each era of the tcg on a competitive level
Gen 1 (Red/Blue) - 2/10 Knowledge
I’m familiar with Haymaker and Chansey but outside of that I know this to be a slow placed era and not sure how the replayability factor is.
Gen 2 (Gold/Silver) - 1/10
Practically know nothing other than Sneasel pretty dang good
Gen 3 (Ruby/Sapphire) - 3.5/10
I know this is a highly regarded era and has some of the best mechanics and best deck variety but haven’t played much. This would be the era where I first found out there is a competitive side to this game. I got the Tim Roos 2007 world championship deck and everything changed there. Looking to master this era.
Gen 4 (Dp/hgss) - 4.5/10
This era I know somewhat about. I know of plenty of the era’s quicks like Legends, LvXs, Ruins of Alph cards etc. Luxchomp domination what have you. This is the era I’m the most nostalgic for as this is when I starting going to league. After gen 3 this would be the next era aid want to master.
Gen 5 (Black/White) - 5/10
I did not play during this era but many of the cards and mechanics sent shockwaves through the tcg future as you’ll see a lot in xy. I know of the Darkrai, Mewtwo and Verizion dominance. I don’t have a ton of interest in this format but seeing the cards in expanded has peaked my interest.
Gen 6 (XY) - 8/10
This is the era I started to dip my toes into the competitive scene. I’m not as knowledgeable on the Primal Kyogre and Groudon front but other than that I’m very familiar with this era.
Gen 7 (Sun/Moon) - 6.5/10
Not as familiar with the ladder half but the first half brought some of the best of the tcg Id seen in a while. Honestly the best of the modern era imo. Always wanting to know more from this time.
Gen 8 (Sword/Shield) - 7.5/10
I’ve been around for this era. The pandemic and ado Zacian really hurt this era. I’m currently burnt out of this era.
